The haunting activities at the Bell’s house subsided with the eventual death of John Bell, who was believed to have been poisoned by the witch. Bell Witch is said to be Kate Batts, a former neighbour of the Bell’s family, and with whom John Bell had ‘bad blood’ with. The lore of Blair Witch and Elly Kedward was also fabricated, albeit it was loosely based on the legend of Bell Witch, a powerful entity who tormented John Bell and his family for four years from 1817 to 1821.
